What it is and who it is for

This Pro Star USB CD player adds a single-disc drive to 2019-2026 Volkswagen Golf Variant models that lack a factory CD slot. It is aimed at drivers who still listen to audio CDs and want them playable through the vehicle’s existing CarPlay system.

Build quality and daily mounting

The compact unit can be placed vertically or horizontally on the centre console, in the glove box or wherever the supplied USB cable reaches the port. Installation requires no extra wiring or tools; the device draws power directly from the car’s USB connection and responds to the factory radio or steering-wheel buttons.

Thermals noise and power

Because it is powered solely by the vehicle USB port, the player adds negligible load to the electrical system and produces no audible fan noise. Allow roughly two minutes for each disc to finish indexing before use; interrupting that process means restarting the setup with a different disc.

Questions about this item

What USB standard does the player use and what does it limit?

The player plugs into the car's USB port for power and CarPlay data, so transfer speed and power are limited to whatever that port provides.

What physical space and mounting options does the unit need?

The compact CD player can be mounted vertically or horizontally on the centre console, in the glove box, or anywhere the USB cable reaches.

How is it installed and what step do people skip?

Plug the USB cable into the car's USB port, then wait two minutes for the CD to finish indexing before use; interrupting this step causes set-up issues.
