Purpose-built diffuser

The Profoto 1/3 Stop Diffuser attaches to the Softlight Reflector to soften and spread light evenly across the scene. It is designed for portrait and close-up photographers who want flattering illumination with reduced harsh shadows. The accessory integrates directly into existing Profoto studio workflows for professional results.

Studio integration

This diffuser mounts quickly and securely onto the Softlight Reflector, leaving the rest of the lighting kit unchanged. It frees the photographer from improvising diffusion materials and keeps setup time short during sessions. The part numbers 100714 and 505-544 identify the item for ordering and inventory.

Consistent output

The diffuser modifies the reflector’s beam without adding heat or electrical load to the system. Normal use involves passive light shaping only, so there are no thermal or acoustic considerations for the accessory itself. It simply refines the quality of light already produced by the connected fixture.

Questions about this item

What happens to light output when the 1/3 stop diffuser is left on the Softlight Reflector for a full-day shoot?

The diffuser reduces output by a consistent 1/3 stop, so exposure stays predictable from the first frame to the last.

Does the diffuser add noticeable heat or fan noise during continuous studio use?

It is a passive fabric panel with no electronics, so it generates no heat and makes no sound.

Which Profoto modifier must I already own for the 100714 diffuser to attach?

It fits only the Profoto Softlight Reflector; no other reflector or mount will work.
