Pocket radio for everyday listening

The PRUNUS J-908 is a compact AM FM receiver that also plays MP3 files from a USB connection. Its small footprint and light weight make it a practical choice for listeners who want a simple, portable audio device for home, travel or outdoor use.

Battery life and charging limits

The upgraded 1200mah rechargeable cell delivers more than 8 hours of continuous playback at 30% volume. Charging requires a DC5V/500mA-1A USB source such as an adapter, computer, car port or power bank, and the radio provides low-battery and charging indicators to prevent unexpected shutdown or overcharging.

Lightweight build with a strap stand

Weighing 110g and measuring 20mm thick, the unit fits easily in a pocket or bag. A gray carrying strap doubles as a stand when the silver key on its end is inserted into the jack socket, allowing the radio to stand upright on a flat surface. The manufacturer advises keeping the device away from water.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the J-908 over another pocket radio for its battery life?

The 1200mAh rechargeable battery gives more than 8 hours of continuous play at 30% volume and can be replaced when it no longer holds a charge.

What does the 3-watt output mean for everyday listening?

It drives the built-in speaker loud enough for a small room or outdoor sitting area without distortion at moderate volume.

How does the USB charging port limit charging speed?

The radio accepts a standard DC 5V supply at 500mA to 1A, so a typical phone charger or power bank will fully charge the battery in a few hours.
