Product Identity

The Purdy 688092 is a 9-inch roller cover designed for painters and decorators working on semi-smooth to smooth surfaces. It fits standard cage-style roller frames and suits both latex and oil-based paints. The polyester cover material works with eggshell, flat and satin sheens.

Nap Size

The 3/8-inch nap is the critical specification that determines whether this cover matches the job. It is intended for semi-smooth and smooth substrates such as drywall and concrete. A thicker nap would hold more paint for rough textures, while a thinner nap would suit ultra-smooth finishes.

Application Characteristics

The polypropylene core resists solvents from both latex and oil-based coatings during normal use. Polyester fibres release paint evenly without excessive splatter, keeping the work area cleaner. The cover cleans up with the appropriate solvent for the paint type used.

Questions about this item

What does the 3/8 in nap mean when the roller is on the wall?

The 3/8 in nap holds enough paint for semi-smooth to smooth surfaces such as drywall or concrete and works with latex or oil-based paints in eggshell, flat or satin sheens.

How does the cage-frame compatibility limit which frames I can use?

The cover fits standard cage-style roller frames with a 1 1/2 in core diameter, so any frame that accepts that core size will work.

What physical space does the 9 in cover need to mount on a frame?

The cover is 9 in long with a 1 1/2 in polypropylene core, so it requires a cage frame that accepts a 9 in cover and a 1 1/2 in core.
