Vehicle overhead display

The Pyle PLRD146 mounts to a vehicle roof and flips down for rear-seat viewing. A 13.3‑inch TFT‑LCD panel shows 1280 x 800 pixels at 450 cd/m² brightness and 500:1 contrast. It runs from a 12 V DC supply and fits overhead consoles in cars, vans or RVs.

Media sources and accessories

A slot‑load drive plays DVD, VCD, CD‑R and CD‑RW discs plus MP3, MP4, JPG, WMA, AVI and MPEG4 files. USB and SD readers accept cards up to 32 GB. An FM transmitter sends audio to the vehicle radio, while three interchangeable covers in grey, black and tan match interior trim.

Build and daily connections

The flip‑down mechanism includes dual LED dome lights for cabin illumination. Touch buttons on the top panel control playback without the remote. Wired harness provides HDMI, RCA, AV and FM interfaces for external devices. IR wireless headphones are supported but not included, so private listening needs a separate purchase.

Questions about this item

How often will the flip-down mechanism or slot-load drive need servicing on the Pyle PLRD146?

The flip-down hinge and slot-load drive have no published service intervals; keep the mechanism clear of dust and avoid forcing the screen to extend its lifespan.

What limits continuous playback on the 13.3-inch TFT-LCD when running from a 12 V vehicle supply?

The 450 cd/m² brightness and 500:1 contrast ratio stay stable until the vehicle voltage drops below 12 V or the 32 GB media limit is reached.

How much heat and fan noise does the overhead unit produce during all-day use?

The unit has no internal fan; heat is dissipated passively through the housing, so audible noise is limited to disc spin-up and touch-button clicks.
