Converts USB to RS485 with TVS protection, CH340 chip and 75 to 115200 bps rates
This Qin Bo Electronics 11402021 module converts a USB port into an RS485 half-duplex channel using a CH340 chip. It targets engineers and technicians who connect PLCs, LED displays, access-control panels, toll stations or attendance terminals to a PC. The adapter suits automation, monitoring and centralised appliance control projects that rely on serial bus communication.
The converter operates from -40 °C to +85 °C without active cooling, so it runs silently in cabinets or outdoor enclosures. It draws power directly from the USB 2.0 bus and includes TVS tube protection plus USB self-recovery protection against transients. No external supply or fan is required for typical half-duplex links up to the supported baud rates.
The package supplies only the converter itself; no cable, driver disc or mounting hardware is included. Drivers for Windows 98 through Windows 7, Linux and Mac must be obtained separately to enable the 75 bps to 115200 bps range with a maximum of 6 Mbps. The bare board lets integrators solder or plug directly into existing terminal blocks and enclosures.

Plug the Mini USB end into the PC; Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, Linux and Mac all need the CH340 driver installed before the virtual COM port appears, otherwise the device stays invisible in Device Manager.
The TVS tube protection and USB self-recovery protection absorb transients; after repeated surges the TVS devices can degrade and the board would need to be swapped out.
The CH340 chip tops out at 6 Mbps and the RS485 half-duplex line driver is rated to +85 °C; sustained maximum throughput in a hot enclosure will hit the thermal ceiling before the baud-rate ceiling.
