16-port KVM-over-IP switch for server rooms

The Raritan Dominion KX III DKX3-416 provides BIOS-level remote management for up to 16 servers from a single 1U rack-mountable appliance. It supports one local operator and four simultaneous remote users over a dedicated network port. Digital video delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution to attached displays. Four USB ports allow virtual media and peripheral mapping during remote sessions.

Suited for administrators managing dense racks

This unit fits environments where 16 servers must be controlled from one console with secure IP access for up to four concurrent operators. It is not intended for setups requiring more than 16 direct computer connections or for teams needing more than four simultaneous remote sessions. Buyers without rack mounting infrastructure should consider the form factor before ordering.

Check rack space and network cabling first

The appliance measures 1.7 inches high, 17.3 inches wide and 13.2 inches deep, weighing 9.08 lb, so verify 1U clearance and depth in your cabinet. Confirm you have an available RJ-45 uplink for the management network among the 18 network ports on the rear. Ensure target servers provide compatible video and USB interfaces for the supplied cabling.

Questions about this item

What cables or adapters are needed to connect 16 servers to the DKX3-416?

Each server requires a Raritan KX III dongle that plugs into its video and USB ports, then links to the switch via Cat5e or Cat6 cable.

Can the DKX3-416 share a rack with older analog KVM switches that only support VGA?

Yes, the switch handles both digital and analog video, so VGA-only servers can connect using the appropriate analog dongles alongside digital ones.

How can I confirm the DKX3-416 is delivering 1920 x 1080 video to the remote console?

Open the web interface, go to the video settings page, and verify the active resolution reads 1920 x 1080 for the target server session.
