Emergency Radio for Power Outages

The Raynic CR1009 is a portable weather radio designed to keep you informed when grid power fails. It receives AM, FM, shortwave and seven preset NOAA weather channels for emergency alerts. Five power sources — hand crank, solar panel, built-in 5000mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, three AAA batteries and AC power — ensure operation during prolonged blackouts. It also charges USB devices such as mobile phones for essential communication.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The radio runs silently with no cooling fans, drawing only the energy needed for its 3-watt speaker output and LED lighting. The 5000mAh internal battery stores 18500mWh and is recharged by the hand crank, solar panel or AC adapter without generating noticeable heat. AAA cells provide a cool-running backup option when rechargeable sources are depleted. Power consumption scales directly with volume and light brightness.

5000mAh Battery and USB Charging

The integrated 5000mAh lithium-ion battery is the single specification that determines how long the radio and its USB charging port can support a phone during an outage. It powers the 3W flashlight, 2.5W reading lamp and SOS siren alongside the receiver. Buyers who need multi-day phone charging capacity or higher-output device support should consider a dedicated power bank instead.

Questions about this item

How do I install the rechargeable battery so the CR1009 turns on?

Open the battery compartment and remove the plastic tab that isolates the built-in 5000 mAh cell before first use.

What maintenance will the hand-crank mechanism need later?

The crank has no user-serviceable parts; keep the gears free of dust and moisture and do not lubricate them.

How long can the 3 W flashlight run on a full charge before the battery hits its limit?

The 5000 mAh pack powers the 3 W LED for several hours; exact runtime varies with temperature and battery age.
