Compact 98% layout mechanical keyboard with gasket-mounted linear switches, tri-mode connectivity including Bluetooth 5.0, and a volume knob
The Redragon K742 is a 98% layout mechanical gaming keyboard that retains a number pad while saving desk space. It features a built-in multimedia volume knob for quick media control. Tri-mode connectivity covers Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 GHz wireless and USB-C wired operation. The board uses pre-lubed linear switches with a 40 gf actuation force and 3.6 mm total travel.
The hot-swappable PCB accepts both 3-pin and 5-pin switches without soldering, and a 2-in-1 puller is included for quick changes. A gasket structure with five layers of sound-absorbing padding reduces ping and hollow noise. South-facing RGB LEDs shine through double-shot PBT keycaps. The keyboard connects to up to three devices and switches between them with dedicated shortcuts.
Verify that the dedicated Windows and macOS shortcut keys match your daily workflow before ordering. The USB dongle stores inside the keyboard chassis, so confirm the compartment is accessible on your desk setup. Battery life varies with RGB brightness and wireless mode; the board recharges via USB-C. No software installation is required for basic functionality.
