Compact duplex scanner for small offices

The Ricoh fi-7300NX PA03768-B005 is a colour duplex document scanner built for small office or home workspaces. It uses two CCD sensors and white LED arrays to capture 24-bit colour, 8-bit greyscale and 1-bit monochrome images at up to 600 dpi optical resolution. An 80-sheet automatic document feeder handles simplex scanning at 60 ppm and duplex at 120 ipm at 200 or 300 dpi.

USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Gigabit Ethernet limits

The scanner connects through USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 ports and also offers 10/100/1000 BASE-T Ethernet for network integration. USB 3.1 Gen 1 provides sufficient bandwidth for the rated scan speeds, while the Ethernet link tops out at 1000 Mbps, which may restrict throughput when multiple high-resolution jobs are sent simultaneously across a busy network segment.

Desktop setup with DVD driver disc

Installation is straightforward on a desk: connect the AC adapter, attach the USB or Ethernet cable, and run the setup program from the included DVD-ROM. The chuter unit must be attached before use. Common issues include missing optical drives on modern PCs requiring a separate download, and network discovery failures when the scanner and host sit on different VLANs or subnets without proper routing configured.

Questions about this item

Which capacity should I choose for daily office scanning?

The automatic document feeder holds up to 80 sheets of A4 or Letter paper, letting you load a full batch for unattended duplex runs.

What does 120 ipm duplex mean when I scan a two-sided stack?

At 200 or 300 dpi the scanner captures both sides simultaneously, delivering 120 images per minute — roughly two double-sided pages every second.

How does the USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection limit transfer speed in practice?

The USB 3.1 Gen 1 port provides up to 5 Gbit/s bandwidth, so scanned data moves to the PC faster than the 120 ipm engine can produce it.
