Compact duplex scanner for home offices

The Ricoh PA03805-B005 ScanSnap iX1300 is a white document scanner built for one-button duplex capture. It suits home offices and small teams that need to digitise paperwork without a dedicated IT setup. The automatic document feeder holds 20 sheets and uses a U-turn ejection path to keep pages orderly. A manual feeder with return-path ejection handles single sheets, receipts or cards.

USB 3.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity

Build quality centres on the dual-feeder mechanism that feeds both sides of a page in a single pass. The USB 3.2 Type-B cable is included for a direct, high-speed link to a PC or Mac. Wireless operation is available on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands with both router and direct-connect modes, so the scanner can sit wherever power reaches without a tethered computer.

Replaces flatbed or single-sided sheet-fed units

This model replaces slower flatbed scanners and single-sided sheet-fed devices when duplex speed matters. The 30-page-per-minute rating makes the jump worthwhile for archives, expense receipts or multi-page contracts that would otherwise require manual flipping. It does not suit buyers who need a larger automatic feeder capacity or network-attached scanning without a host computer.

Questions about this item

What does the USB 3.2 connection cap the transfer speed at in practice?

The USB 3.2 Type-B cable included with the scanner supports the interface's full bandwidth for moving scanned files to the host computer.

What desk space and clearance does the unit need for the 20-page ADF and U-turn ejection path?

The automatic document feeder holds 20 sheets and ejects them back toward the front, so allow room in front of the scanner for the U-turn paper path to operate without obstruction.

How do I switch between Wi-Fi Direct and router mode, and which step do users often miss?

Use the ScanSnap Home software to choose Wireless Router Connect or Direct Connect; the step often missed is confirming the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band matches the network you intend to join.
