White 40 mm headset for PlayStation

The RIG R5 PRO HS is a wired over-ear headset officially licensed for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It connects through a 3.5 mm TRRS plug on a 1.5 metre cable with in-line volume control. The 40 mm graphene-coated drivers deliver audio from 20 Hz to 40 kHz with less than 0.5 % harmonic distortion. Weighing 336 g, it uses memory-foam cushions and an adjustable headband for comfort.

Competitive gamers wanting wired 3D audio

This headset suits players who want Tempest 3D Audio support on PlayStation and a tuned sound signature that highlights footsteps and reloads in shooters. The flip-to-mute 6 mm microphone covers 50 Hz to 15 kHz for clear chat. Buyers needing wireless freedom or a USB connection should look elsewhere. The 3.5 mm analog jack also works with Xbox, Switch and PC, but the licence and tuning target PlayStation.

Plug in and adjust the sliders

Installation is straightforward: insert the 3.5 mm plug into the controller or device, set the in-line volume, and extend the sliders to fit. The microphone flips up to mute instantly. The only common issue is forgetting to lower the mic boom before speaking, which leaves the microphone muted. Cable length is fixed at 1.5 metres, so ensure the reach suits your setup.

Questions about this item

What device do I need to plug the 3.5mm TRRS connector into for game audio and chat?

The headset connects to any PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 controller, PC sound card, or mobile device with a standard 3.5mm combined audio jack.

Will the 40mm graphene drivers and 32 ohm impedance work well with an older controller that has a weaker headphone output?

The 32 ohm impedance and 117.5 dB sensitivity make the headset easy to drive, so even older controllers or onboard audio will reach loud volumes without distortion.

How can I verify the flip-to-mute microphone is live during a match?

Flip the 6mm boom down; the mic is active. Flip it up until it clicks; the mic is muted and your teammates will no longer hear you.
