Turns a 2230 M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD into a 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 portable drive with an aluminum shell, tool-free opening, and a lanyard
The RIITOP 2230 enclosure converts an M.2 2230 NVMe or SATA solid-state drive into a compact external USB 3.2 Gen 2 drive. It targets users who have removed a 2230 SSD from a laptop or tablet and want to reuse it as portable storage without a full-size 2280 enclosure.
An aluminum alloy shell provides passive cooling through a ventilated surface and weighs only 26g (.92 oz). A screw-less latch opens with a paper clip, and the flat USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 cable plus a USB-C to USB-A adapter connect to either port type. A lanyard loop secures the enclosure to a bag or keychain.
This enclosure replaces an internal 2230 slot, giving the drive USB 10Gbps bandwidth with UASP and TRIM support for faster file moves than the original internal interface. It is worth the jump when the source drive is 2230 M-key NVMe or B+M-key SATA; it does not fit 2260, 2280, or MacBook proprietary SSDs.

The enclosure uses a USB 3.1 Gen 2 connection rated at 10Gbps, with UASP and TRIM support, so a 1GB file moves in roughly one second.
Only 2230-size drives — 30mm long — with either M-key NVMe or B+M-key SATA pin-outs are supported; 2260 and 2280 modules will not fit.
Insert a paper clip into the release hole to pop the lid, seat the 2230 SSD firmly in the M.2 slot, then snap the cover back; the common mistake is not pushing the drive all the way down before closing.
