Seven USB 3.0 ports via PCIe

The RIITOP expansion card adds seven external USB 3.0 ports through any available PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot. It uses dual Renesas chipsets for broad motherboard compatibility and requires no external power connection. The card supports Windows 11 down to XP as well as Linux, and it is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.0 devices.

Fits standard-height PCs only

Builders with full-size or mid-tower cases can install the card in a free PCIe slot and immediately gain seven high-speed ports for drives, printers, scanners or webcams. The design will not fit 2U rackmount chassis, so anyone assembling a 2U server or compact rack system should look at a low-profile alternative instead.

5 Gbps shared across seven ports

Each port runs at up to 5 Gbps, ten times the throughput of USB 2.0, making large transfers such as HD video or lossless audio noticeably quicker. The total bandwidth is shared among all seven ports, so simultaneous heavy transfers from multiple external drives will reduce per-port speed.

Questions about this item

What motherboard slot must be free to install this 7-port USB 3.0 PCIe card?

One available PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot is required; the card draws all power from that slot so no extra cable is needed.

Will my existing USB 2.0 and 1.0 peripherals still work when plugged into the seven new ports?

Yes, the dual Renesas chipsets make the card fully backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.0 devices.

How can I verify the card is running at the advertised 5 Gbps after installation?

In Device Manager check that the host controller appears under USB controllers without errors, then copy a large file to a USB 3.0 drive and confirm transfer speeds reach the 5 Gbps rating.
