USB-C to Mini DisplayPort 4K Adapter

This new RIITOP CTMNDP-4K adapter connects a USB-C host to a Mini DisplayPort monitor. It supports 3840x2160 resolution at 60 Hz with simultaneous audio transmission. The 20 cm nylon-braided cable features an aluminium alloy shell and gold-plated connectors. Plug-and-play operation requires no drivers or software installation.

For DP Alt Mode hosts; not for Thunderbolt 1 or 2

Suitable for laptops and phones with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode, such as MacBook Pro 2018 or 2019, Dell XPS and Samsung Galaxy S21 or S20 Plus. It enables mirror or extend display modes for work or entertainment. Buyers whose host lacks DP Alternate Mode cannot use this adapter. It also does not support Thunderbolt 1 or Thunderbolt 2 ports.

Requires host DP Alternate Mode support

The single specification that decides compatibility is whether the host USB-C port implements DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Without this feature the adapter will not output video or audio. Check the device manual or specifications for DP Alternate Mode confirmation before purchase. The adapter accepts USB 3.1 Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 input and provides a Mini DisplayPort female output.

Questions about this item

My laptop only has a USB-C port — does it need to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode for this adapter to work?

Yes, the host USB-C port must support DisplayPort Alternate Mode; the adapter will not function on ports that only carry data or power.

I still use a 1080p monitor — will the CTMNDP-4K downscale the 4K signal automatically?

The adapter supports 1080p at 24, 50 and 60 Hz as well as 720p and 480p, so a 1080p display will work at its native resolution.

After plugging it in, how can I confirm the link is running at 4K 60 Hz?

Open your OS display settings and verify the external monitor shows 3840×2160 at 60 Hz; the adapter also passes multi-channel audio, so sound should appear on the display device.
