Compact 2230 Enclosure

The RIITOP M.2 2230 enclosure turns a 30mm M-key NVMe or B+M-key SATA drive into a portable USB-C storage device. Its aluminium shell weighs 26g and opens with the included paper clip, while the flat 20Gbps USB-C cable and C-to-A adapter connect to USB-C or USB-A ports on laptops, phones, tablets or consoles.

Travel-Ready Storage Upgrade

It suits users who need pocket-sized external storage for a 2230 SSD, such as Steam Deck owners expanding capacity or mobile creators offloading files from USB-C phones. Builders who need support for longer 2242, 2260 or 2280 modules, or who require a second drive bay, cannot use this single-slot design.

Single-Slot 2230 Only

The enclosure accepts exactly one M.2 drive in the 2230 form factor and rejects every other length. This physical constraint is the deciding specification — if the drive is not 22mm wide and 30mm long, it will not fit.

Questions about this item

Will the 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 link saturate before the NVMe drive hits its own ceiling?

The enclosure uses an RTL9210B controller with a 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface; sustained throughput is capped at that link speed, so the drive cannot exceed it.

Does the aluminum shell stay cool and silent during continuous 10 Gbps transfers?

The 26 g aluminum case acts as a passive heatsink with included thermal pads; no fan is present, so operation is silent and surface temperature rises only modestly under load.

Which exact M.2 2230 drive types work without any extra parts?

Only 22x30 mm M-key NVMe or B+M-key SATA SSDs are supported; the package already includes a 20 Gbps USB-C cable, a USB-C-to-A adapter, thermal pads, a paper-clip opener and a lanyard.
