Adds a 20-pin USB 3.0 header and a Type-E USB-C header through one PCIe x1 slot with 5 Gbps bandwidth
This adapter plugs into a PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot and adds one 20-pin USB 3.0 header plus one Type-E (A Key) header. It targets desktop builders who need front-panel USB-A and USB-C ports on a motherboard that lacks native headers. The card works with Windows 7, 8, 10 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Linux, though Windows 7 requires a driver install.
A VIA VL805 controller provides a total of 5 Gbps bandwidth across the added ports. An integrated heatsink keeps the chipset at lower temperatures during sustained transfers, which helps maintain reliability. The card draws power directly from the PCIe slot, so no external power connector is needed. Operation is silent because there are no moving parts.
Both a full-size and a half-height bracket are supplied, letting the card fit standard ATX cases and compact Mini PCs alike. The 20-pin header (19 active pins plus one empty) connects to a front-panel module that typically provides two USB-A ports, while the Type-E header adds a single USB-C port. No driver disc or software utility is bundled beyond the Windows 7 requirement noted above.

Insert the card into any PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot, attach the chosen bracket, then connect the 20-pin header cable to the motherboard's USB 3.0 front-panel connector and the Type-E header to the USB-C front-panel connector; the step often missed is plugging in both internal cables after the card is seated.
The heatsink is passive so no fan replacement is required; periodically use compressed air to clear dust from the fins so the chipset stays cool during sustained 5 Gbps transfers.
The single PCIe x1 lane caps total throughput at one 5 Gbps stream, so concurrent transfers on the two USB-A and one USB-C ports will share that bandwidth.
