4 AWG copper cable with pre-crimped lugs delivers up to 400 A at 12 V for battery-to-starter links
This 19 inch black battery cable uses 4 gauge copper wire with flattened lugs on both ends. It is rated for 12 volt systems and a maximum current of 400 amps. The cable suits automotive starters, battery relocations or heavy duty DC power distribution. It meets SAE type SGT and RoHS standards.
The PVC insulation withstands temperatures up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit in normal operation. Copper conductors keep voltage drop low across the 19 inch run at the rated 400 amp capacity. Water, grease, sunlight and abrasion resistance protect the jacket from engine bay contaminants. No active cooling or derating is required within the stated limits.
Each end terminates in a flattened copper lug with a 5/16 inch stud hole for secure battery or starter posts. The black PVC jacket resists cracking and chemical exposure over time. Lugs are crimped at the factory for consistent contact resistance. The 19 inch length fits tight engine compartments without excess slack.

Crimp or solder the flattened lugs onto the cable ends, then bolt them to the 5/16 in studs; the step often missed is torquing the lug bolts to spec so the copper contact stays tight under vibration.
Inspect the PVC insulation for cracks, grease the lug faces annually, and replace the cable if the copper strands show corrosion or the jacket hardens past the 140 °F rating.
The 140 °F temperature ceiling is reached first; beyond it the PVC insulation degrades and resistance rises, so continuous 400 A runs must stay below that thermal limit.
