Roby Technology Co., Limited PCIe Extension Cable x8 telephone accessory

PCIe x8 Ribbon Extender

This PCIe x8 ribbon cable extends a PCI Express 8x slot so an add-in card can be mounted away from the motherboard. The flexible flat cable suits custom enclosures and low-profile rackmount chassis such as 1U or 2U servers. It connects a male PCIe x8 edge to a female x8 receptacle without requiring any driver installation.

Builders with tight chassis, not hot-swap needs

The extender fits small-form-factor desktops and industrial computers where a full-length card cannot sit directly in the slot. It is not designed for hot-swappable operation, so systems that require live card insertion or removal should use a different interconnect method. No driver support means the host simply detects the attached device at boot.

PCI Express x8 male-to-female interface

The single specification that decides fit is the x8 electrical interface on both ends of the ribbon. A card that requires more than eight lanes will not gain additional bandwidth from this cable. Verify that the target expansion card and motherboard slot both operate at PCIe x8 before purchasing.
