Wind shield for VideoMic GO
The RODE DeadCat GO is an artificial-fur wind cover made for the VideoMic GO microphone. It fits directly over the capsule to reduce wind noise and indoor draft interference. The cover is intended for creators who record dialogue or ambient sound in exposed environments. Its lightweight construction adds 0.06 to the microphone weight.
Acoustic transparency and draft protection
The specially designed fur minimises wind turbulence while remaining acoustically transparent so high-frequency detail is preserved. In normal indoor use it blocks air-conditioner drafts without colouring the recorded signal. Outdoors it attenuates broadband wind rumble across a wide range of speeds. No external power or circuitry is involved.
Simple slip-on accessory
The shield ships as a single fur sleeve with no additional mounts, cables or software. Installation is a friction fit that stays secure during handheld or boom operation. Because it adds only 0.06, the microphone balance on a camera shoe or boom pole is virtually unchanged. No firmware updates or driver downloads are required.

Questions about this item
How do I fit the DeadCat GO onto the VideoMic GO, and what is the step people often miss?
Slide the fur cover over the microphone capsule until the elastic opening grips the mic body; the step often missed is checking that the fur sits evenly all round so no gaps let wind through.
What upkeep or replacement will the DeadCat GO need over time?
The artificial fur can mat or collect dust; brush it gently with a soft brush and replace the cover if the fibres become compacted or torn.
What limit appears first when using the DeadCat GO continuously in strong wind?
In sustained high wind the fur reaches its noise-reduction limit and low-frequency rumble begins to leak into the recording.
