Roku Streaming Stick Plus 4K HDR

This compact media streamer plugs directly into any HDMI port and delivers 4K HDR content from the Roku platform. It targets viewers who want a simple upgrade for a 4K television without adding a separate power brick or bulky box. The stick draws power from the TV USB port, keeping the setup tidy. Travellers can also move it between displays without re‑logging into apps.

Dual‑band 802.11ac Wi‑Fi and HDR10/10+ HLG support

The single spec that decides fit is the wireless radio: 802.11ac on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. A congested 2.4 GHz network will throttle 4K streams, so the 5 GHz option is essential for reliable UHD playback. The device also decodes HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG metadata, matching the HDR formats most 4K TVs advertise. Without a compatible 4K HDR screen and a 5 GHz router, the stick cannot show its best picture.

Plug‑and‑play HDMI with USB‑C power

Installation takes seconds: insert the stick into HDMI, connect the supplied USB‑C cable to the TV USB port, then follow the on‑screen Wi‑Fi prompts. The slim 21 mm width avoids blocking adjacent HDMI sockets. The voice remote pairs automatically and controls TV power, volume and mute. The only common snag is a TV USB port that cannot supply 5 V at 1 A; in that case the included USB‑A adapter and a wall charger are required.

Questions about this item

How does 4K HDR at 60 fps look on a compatible television?

The stick outputs up to 2160p at 60 fps with HDR10/10+ and HLG support, so a matching 4K HDR TV shows full 3840 × 2160 resolution with expanded colour and contrast.

What does the dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi limit in everyday use?

It caps the wireless link to the 802.11ac standard on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, so maximum throughput depends on your router and local interference rather than the stick itself.

Will the 94 mm deep player block the HDMI port next to it?

The slim 21 mm wide design is built not to obstruct adjacent HDMI ports, and it draws 5 V 1 A power from the TV's USB port or the included USB-C cable.
