Roscolux Clear 20x24" Lighting Filter
This Roscolux Clear filter is a heat-resistant polycarbonate film sheet designed for photography and studio lighting. It transmits light without altering the source colour or intensity, making it suitable for professionals who need accurate colour rendition. The 20 by 24 inch dimensions provide ample material for custom shaping.
Replaces worn or surface-coated colour gels
Surface-coated polyester gels can suffer from dye migration and fading under high heat, whereas this filter uses a tri-extrusion construction that seals the colour layer between clear films. The jump is worth it when extended life and consistent performance under hot theatrical lights are required for repeated professional sessions.
Limited to passive colour correction and diffusion
The filter modifies the spectral output of existing light sources but does not generate light, change beam angle, or provide electrical control. It withstands high temperatures from studio fixtures yet remains a consumable sheet that must be cut and mounted manually for each specific fixture.

Questions about this item
Will the 20x24" sheet fit my fixture or do I need to trim it?
The sheet measures exactly 20 by 24 inches; you can cut it to any smaller shape required for your fixture.
How should I mount the polycarbonate filter in a hot studio light?
Use a metal frame or gel clip that holds the sheet away from the lamp face so heat can circulate; taping it directly to the barn doors traps heat and shortens life.
When will the clear filter need replacing under continuous stage use?
The polycarbonate base resists heat and dye migration, so replacement is only needed if the sheet becomes physically scratched, warped or cracked.
