Entry-level register with 999 PLUs, 16 departments, eight clerk IDs, automatic tax computation, a locking four-slot drawer and a 9-digit display
The Royal 140DX cash register suits small retailers who need fast, item-level entry without a full POS system. It stores up to 999 price look-ups and organises sales across 16 departments for quick category reporting. An eight-clerk ID system keeps individual transactions separate and accountable. Battery-backed memory protects totals during power interruptions.
The ink roller printer runs on standard 58 mm bond paper and operates quietly at the counter. No active cooling is required, so the unit adds no fan noise to a small shop floor. Power comes from the mains with three AA batteries maintaining memory if supply is lost. Heat output remains low enough for continuous all-day use.
A locking cash drawer provides four bill slots and four coin slots, expandable to six coin compartments for busy periods. The black casing resists everyday wear around the till point. The nine-digit operator display is fixed in place, giving clear totals without adjustable viewing angles. All connections are internal, so the register sits cleanly on a countertop with no trailing cables.

Open the printer cover, drop in the ink roller with the gear facing the drive shaft, then feed the 58 mm paper roll from the bottom so it unrolls toward you; the step most users miss is pulling the paper through until it appears above the tear bar before closing the cover.
The ink roller is the only consumable besides 58 mm paper rolls; replace the roller when print becomes faint, typically after several thousand transactions, and swap paper whenever the roll runs out.
The ink roller will fade before any electronic limit is reached, so print quality is the first constraint under sustained use.
