215/45R17 high-performance all-season tyre

Royal Black Racing Trac is a new 215/45R17 passenger tyre built for year-round use on sedans and similar cars. It carries an XL load range with load index 91 and speed rating W for sustained speeds up to 168 mph. The asymmetric tread pattern delivers grip in wet and dry conditions while the M+S rating confirms all-season capability.

Suits drivers wanting one set for every season

This tyre fits 17 inch rims and matches the 215/45R17 size specification exactly. It is not for buyers who need a dedicated winter compound with the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol or a run-flat construction for continued mobility after a puncture. Vehicles requiring a different load index, speed rating or rim diameter should look at other sizes.

UTQG 420 AA grades treadwear and traction

The treadwear rating of 420 indicates expected mileage relative to the government reference tyre. Traction earns the top AA grade for wet stopping performance and temperature resistance receives an A rating. Overall diameter measures 24.6 inches and the tread depth is 7/32 inch when new. These figures determine whether the tyre meets your vehicle's requirements.

Questions about this item

What rim diameter must I already have for the 215/45R17 tyre to fit?

The tyre is built for a 17 inch rim, so the wheel on the vehicle must be a 17 inch diameter.

Can I mix this W-rated 215/45R17 tyre with older tyres that have a lower speed rating on the same axle?

Mixing a W-rated tyre rated up to 168 mph with lower-rated tyres on the same axle is not recommended because handling and speed capability will be limited to the lowest rating.

How do I confirm the 215/45R17 tyre is performing correctly after installation?

Check that the inflation pressure matches the vehicle placard, verify even tread wear across the 215 mm section width after a short drive, and ensure no vibration or pulling occurs at highway speeds.
