3.5 gal Deskside Wastebasket

The Rubbermaid Commercial 295500BK is a rectangular wastebasket designed for office waste disposal. Its 3.5 gallon capacity suits individual deskside use in home or work environments. All-plastic construction prevents chipping, rusting and denting. Rolled rims add structural strength and simplify cleaning.

Capacity and everyday fit

The 3.5 gal volume handles daily paper and light refuse at a single workstation. It fits under standard desk height even when a compatible swing top is fully extended. The compact footprint keeps aisles clear while remaining accessible. Heavier or bulkier waste streams will exceed its practical limit.

Replacing smaller or metal bins

This basket upgrades from cramped bins that overflow before the end of the day. It also replaces metal wastebaskets that dent, rust or scratch floors. The jump is worth it when a durable, space-efficient container that protects surfaces is needed. Buyers requiring larger centralised collection should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5 gal Rubbermaid 295500BK sit under my existing desk without catching the drawer?

Yes, the space-efficient design fits under standard desk height even when a swing top is fully extended, so it clears typical desk drawers.

How can I verify the 295500BK wastebasket is undamaged and stable once placed?

Check that the rolled rims are intact, the all-plastic body shows no chips or cracks, and the basket sits flat without rocking or marking the floor.

Does the 295500BK come with a lid or must I buy the swing top separately?

The wastebasket itself is sold without a lid; the matching swing top is a separate accessory.
