Breakroom waste receptacle for tight spaces

The Rubbermaid SO1220PLBK is an open-top, half-round waste receptacle finished in black with chrome accents. Its wall-hugging profile suits corridors, lobbies and breakrooms where floor space is limited. The 7" diameter, vinyl-trimmed disposal opening keeps the interior accessible while maintaining a clean appearance. Fire-safe steel construction and a high recycled-content body meet commercial durability expectations.

Simple liftoff body for emptying

A leakproof rigid plastic liner sits inside the steel shell and is removed by lifting the outer body straight up. No brackets, bolts or door mechanisms are involved, so custodial staff can swap liners in seconds. The vinyl trim on the opening resists cracking and prevents sharp edges that could tear bags. Installation consists only of placing the unit against a wall; no hardware or assembly is required.

Constraints of the open-top half-round form

The fixed 32" x 18" x 9" footprint and 7" disposal aperture limit the volume of waste accepted per drop. Open-top access means odours and visible contents are not contained, so the unit is unsuitable for areas requiring covered disposal. The half-round shape prevents flush corner placement and reduces capacity compared with a rectangular bin of equal width. The steel shell is 100 percent recyclable at end of life.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the fire-safe steel construction is performing as intended after placing the unit against a wall?

The open-top, half-round design sits flush to the wall with the 7" vinyl-trimmed opening facing outward, and the liftoff body removes cleanly to reveal the leakproof rigid plastic liner intact.

What components are included and what must be purchased separately?

The receptacle body, leakproof rigid plastic liner, and vinyl-trimmed disposal opening are supplied; liner bags are not included and must be bought separately.

Which capacity or finish variant should I choose for a narrow breakroom?

The single 32" x 18" x 9" black-chrome model with fire-safe steel construction is the only variant listed.
