Wi-Fi 6 access point with dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz radios, six spatial streams, 2.5 GbE uplink and embedded BLE and Zigbee IoT radios
The Ruckus R650 is a dual-band wireless access point built for offices, classrooms and retail spaces where many devices connect at once. It supports up to 512 client connections and delivers a peak data rate of 2974 Mbps across six MU-MIMO spatial streams. The unit includes embedded IoT radios for Bluetooth Low Energy and Zigbee, enabling non-Wi-Fi services on the same hardware. Management options span cloud, on-premises appliances or controller-less operation.
A single 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port with PoE+ provides both power and uplink, ensuring the wired backhaul does not limit the available Wi-Fi 6 capacity. The 1000Base-T label on the specification sheet refers to the base standard, while the 2.5 Gbit/s rate is the operational speed that matches the wireless throughput. No separate power supply is required when a PoE+ switch or injector is present.
The access point mounts on a wall or ceiling using the supplied bracket and relies on internal antennas, so there are no external elements to align or damage. Installation consists of connecting the PoE+ cable and adopting the device in the chosen management plane. The only common issue is forgetting to enable the 2.5 Gbps port speed on the switch side, which leaves the link at 1 Gbps and creates a bottleneck.

The 2974 Mbps figure is the maximum theoretical throughput across both radios combined; actual client speeds will be lower and depend on channel width, client capability, interference and the number of simultaneous users.
The 2.5 GbE RJ-45 port limits wired backhaul to 2.5 Gbit/s and supplies power via PoE+, so the Ethernet link will not bottleneck the Wi-Fi 6 radios under full load.
The unit is designed to be wall-mountable and also supports ceiling-grid brackets; it weighs little enough for standard drop-ceiling rails and requires only the single PoE+ cable for power and data.
