- Two-piece design simplifies installation and shaft alignment
- Carbon steel construction handles up to 1,600 in-lb of torque
- Rated for 4,000 RPM maximum rotational speed
- Accommodates 5/8 in and 1/2 in bore diameters
- 51 in clearance diameter fits compact spaces
Rigid Two-Piece Coupling
The Ruland SPX-10-8-F is a carbon-steel rigid coupling designed to connect two shafts with different bore sizes. It suits maintenance engineers and machine builders who need a solid, backlash-free link in power-transmission assemblies. The two-piece construction allows installation without removing other components from the shaft.
Bore Adaptation
Different bore diameters of 5/8 in and 1/2 in let the coupling join mismatched shafts directly, eliminating the need for separate adapters or bushings. The round bores have no keyways, so torque transfers purely through the clamping force of the two-piece hub. This simplifies alignment on shafts that lack key seats.
Speed and Torque Limits
Maximum rated speed is 4,000 RPM and maximum torque is 1,600 in-lb, so the coupling is not suited for high-speed or high-torque drives beyond those values. The 1.51 in clearance diameter and 2 in overall length define the space envelope; builders needing a more compact or higher-speed solution must select a different coupling style.

Questions about this item
Will the two-piece clamp design need periodic re-torquing of the screws?
The two-piece carbon-steel clamp relies on its screws to maintain the 1,600 in-lb torque rating, so check and re-torque the fasteners at regular service intervals.
What is the first limit reached when the coupling runs continuously at high speed?
The 4,000 RPM maximum speed is the primary sustained-use limit; exceeding it risks loss of clamping force and premature wear.
Does the carbon-steel body generate noticeable heat or vibration during all-day operation?
At rated torque and speed the coupling runs without measurable temperature rise, though misaligned shafts will introduce vibration and localized heating.
