What this cable does

The Ruth's sister QC3.0 USB to AAA dummy power supply cable replaces four to eight 1.5 V LR3 AM4 AAA batteries with a single USB connection. It is intended for smart devices that normally run on multiple AAA cells and lets you power them from a QC3.0 wall charger, car charger or power bank.

Installation and common issues

Plug the USB end into a QC3.0 source, insert the dummy battery shells into the device's battery compartment and flip the onboard ON/OFF switch. The dummy shells contain no chemistry of their own; they only conduct power from the cable. If a standard 5 V USB port is used instead of QC3.0, the output stays fixed at 5 V and the voltage adjustment buttons have no effect.

QC3.0 voltage limits

With a QC3.0 input the cable delivers an adjustable 5 V to 12 V output in 0.2 V steps per button press. Holding the button raises the voltage until 12 V is reached; further presses then step it back down by 0.2 V each time. The last selected voltage is remembered for the next use, but this memory only works when the cable is powered by a genuine QC3.0 charger or power bank.
