Mini Windjammer for test microphones

The Rycote Mini Windjammer is a specialised wind cover designed for Larson and Davis test microphones. It delivers optimum wind diffusion for smaller capsules in field recording and measurement scenarios. Audio engineers and acoustics professionals gain reliable protection against wind noise during outdoor sessions.

10 to 12 dB extra wind protection

The windjammer adds 10 to 12 dB of attenuation over a standard windscreen, extending usable headroom in breezy conditions. It comfortably handles moderate gusts that would otherwise obscure low-level signals. In sustained high winds the additional layer reaches its limit and residual noise may still require post-processing.

Slip-on fit for Larson and Davis models

The cover slips directly onto compatible Larson and Davis test microphones without adapters or tools. Its compact profile keeps the rig lightweight and unobtrusive on a boom pole or stand. The design frees up space in a field kit by replacing bulkier full-size windjammers for smaller capsules.

Questions about this item

Will this windjammer fit my older Larson Davis test microphone without modification?

It is made for Larson and Davis test microphones, so it should fit compatible models directly.

How can I confirm the Mini Windjammer is reducing wind noise by the rated 10 to 12 dB after I fit it?

Compare outdoor recordings with and without the windjammer; a noticeable drop in low-frequency rumble indicates the extra protection is active.

Does the package include the microphone or any mounting hardware, or do I need to buy those separately?

Only the Mini Windjammer is supplied; the Larson Davis test microphone and any required mounts must be purchased separately.
