Product Identity

This transparent 2.5-inch SATA enclosure connects any standard notebook drive to a USB 3.0 port without tools. The plug-and-play design suits users who want quick external access to an existing SSD or hard drive for backup or data migration.

Thermals and Power

The plastic shell relies on passive airflow and draws power solely from the USB connection, so no external adapter is required. In typical use the drive runs at ambient temperature with no audible fan noise.

Bundled Value

A free download of Acronis True Image for Sabrent adds sector-by-sector cloning software, letting you duplicate an internal boot drive to the enclosed SSD without purchasing separate migration tools.

Questions about this item

How do I install a 2.5-inch SATA drive into the tool-free enclosure, and what step do people often miss?

Slide the drive into the drawer, align the SATA connector, and close the latch; the step often missed is ensuring the drive thickness is 7mm or 9.5mm so the latch fully engages.

What maintenance or replacement will the USB 3.0 to SATA enclosure need over time?

The enclosure itself has no moving parts; only the USB cable may wear from repeated insertion, and the drive inside will eventually need replacement when its own lifespan ends.

What throughput limit appears first during sustained transfers with this enclosure?

The USB 3.0 interface caps sustained throughput at 5 Gbps, and the SATA III drive behind it cannot exceed that ceiling even under continuous load.
