Connects a USB computer to a DB25 parallel printer at up to 12 Mbps with plug-and-play operation across Windows, macOS 10.4 to 13, and Linux
This 6-foot cable connects a USB 1.1 or 2.0 port on a PC to the 25-pin parallel interface on a dot-matrix or label printer. It is intended for users who need to keep older printing hardware working with modern Windows, macOS or Linux systems.
The adapter draws power from the USB bus and supports bi-directional IEEE 1284 communication at up to 12 megabits per second. Compatibility spans Windows 98 SE through 11, macOS 10.4 to 13 and Linux, but macOS 14 and later are not supported.
The link tops out at 12 megabits per second and requires the printer to have a DB25 male port. It will not work with Zip drives, engravers or devices that need proprietary parallel protocols, so verify printer support before purchase.

The cable uses copper conductors and passive connectors rated for standard USB 1.1/2.0 and IEEE 1284 cycles; no active electronics are present to degrade, so physical connector wear from repeated mating is the only long-term concern.
The IEEE 1284 parallel specification caps the link at 12 Mbps, so sustained data flow cannot exceed that rate regardless of host speed or cable length.
The adapter draws power from the USB port and is rated up to 60 watts maximum, but typical printer traffic uses far less; the cable remains cool during normal operation.
