Connects a 36-pin Centronics parallel printer to a USB-A 2.0 port on Windows, Linux or macOS without external power
The Sabrent ICUSB1284 cable connects a 36-pin Centronics parallel printer to a USB-A 2.0 port on a desktop or laptop. It is built for IT professionals and legacy-equipment users who need to keep older printers working on modern computers without a built-in parallel port.
The adapter runs at USB 2.0 speed and draws 0.9 W from the bus, so no external power supply is required. Plug-and-play installation is supported on Windows XP and later, Windows Server 2000 and later, Linux kernel 2.6.X and later, and macOS 10.6 through 13.0.
The cable uses a Prolific PL2305 bridge chip that translates USB data to the IEEE-1284 parallel protocol. If the target printer or operating system requires a different bridge implementation, this adapter will not function correctly.
