Compact mobile file cart for home offices

The Safco 5277BL is a narrow wire cart built to hold letter- or legal-size hanging folders. Its small footprint suits home offices, dorm rooms or any workspace where floor space is limited. The unit ships as a single piece and requires assembly before use.

Steel wire frame with powder coat and four casters

The cart uses a black powder-coated steel wire construction rated for 300 lb of evenly distributed load. Four two-inch casters, two of which lock, let the cart roll smoothly and stay put when needed. A fixed bottom shelf adds a place for supplies without extra hardware.

Replaces stationary file cabinets when mobility

This cart upgrades from fixed cabinets whenever files must move between desks or be tucked under a worksurface. The jump is worth it for users who need daily repositioning without lifting heavy furniture. It does not serve buyers who need locking drawers or multiple shelf levels.

Questions about this item

What weight limit does the 300 lb capacity impose on the steel wire frame?

The cart supports up to 300 lb distributed across the hanging file frame and bottom shelf, allowing dense letter or legal folders plus supplies without exceeding the rated limit.

What clearance is needed to tuck the 15.5" wide cart under a worksurface?

The unit measures 15.5" wide, 14" deep and 19.75" high, so any desk or table with at least 19.75" knee clearance and 14" depth will accommodate it when not in use.

How do I install the four 2" casters so the two locking swivels work correctly?

Attach each caster to the designated corner sockets; position the two locking swivels on the same end, then press the brake tabs down with your foot to lock and lift to release.
