38-Gallon Waste Receptacle for High-Traffic Areas

The Safco 9790BL is a square, top-open waste receptacle built from impact-resistant, high-density polyethylene. It offers a 38 gallon capacity suited for busy breakrooms, lobbies, or facility maintenance zones. Built-in UV inhibitors help the black finish withstand sunlight exposure. The 12 inch waste opening allows quick disposal without lifting a lid.

Replaces Smaller Bins in Demanding Spaces

This unit replaces lighter-duty containers that crack under heavy use or degrade outdoors. The jump is worth it when a single stream of refuse fills standard bins too fast or when cleaning crews need a rigid body that keeps its shape. Security connectors let you anchor the receptacle or gang several together for a fixed sorting station.

Simple Assembly with Rigid Result

Assembly consists of securing the sidewall into the base and top to form a rigid structure. The lid attaches to the base using the included security connectors. No specialised tools are required for the initial build. The main issue installers report is misaligning the sidewall slots before tightening, which can leave a visible gap.

Questions about this item

How much clearance does the 12" top opening need for trash to drop in?

The 12" square opening sits at the top of the receptacle, so allow at least 12 inches of unobstructed space above the lid for refuse to fall straight in without hitting an overhang.

Which step of securing the sidewall into the base and top is most often missed?

Installers sometimes skip the security connectors that lock the lid to the base; without them the receptacle loses rigidity and cannot be ganged or anchored.

Will the UV inhibitors in the polyethylene eventually wear out and require replacement?

The UV inhibitors are molded into the high-density polyethylene, not applied as a coating, so they do not deplete and the receptacle does not need scheduled replacement for UV degradation.
