Right-size flagship

The Samsung Galaxy S20 5G G981U is a compact Android smartphone with a 6.2-inch display, 12GB RAM and 128GB storage. It runs on a Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 chipset and includes a 4000mAh battery. The triple rear camera array covers wide, ultra-wide and telephoto focal lengths. This unit is new and locked to T-Mobile.

One-hand users, not storage hoarders

Buyers who want a pocketable 5G handset with flagship processing and versatile photography will fit this model. Shoppers who need expandable storage, a larger screen, dual-SIM flexibility or an unlocked device for other carriers should look elsewhere. The prepaid, single-SIM configuration also limits international roaming options.

T-Mobile lock decides compatibility

The single specification that determines whether this is the right part is the carrier restriction: this G981U model works only on the T-Mobile network. If your service uses a different carrier, the phone will not activate.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Snapdragon 865 get when the phone runs all day?

The Snapdragon 865 paired with 12GB RAM handles sustained workloads efficiently; typical warmth is mild and fanless operation stays silent.

Which SIM or network must I already have for this G981U to activate?

This model is locked to T-Mobile, so an active T-Mobile or compatible MVNO nano-SIM is required before first use.

Will my older 5 V USB-A chargers and cables charge the 4000 mAh battery at full speed?

Legacy USB-A adapters will charge the battery but only at standard 5 V rates; the included UL-approved adapter supports faster charging.
