Unlocked 5G smartphone with Snapdragon 888

The Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G G9960 ships factory unlocked and supports GSM, HSPA, EVDO, LTE and 5G bands including SA, NSA, Sub6 and mmWave. It runs Android 11 on an octa-core Snapdragon 888 chipset with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The 6.7 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display delivers a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and a peak brightness of 1300 nits at 1080 x 2400 resolution.

IP68 rated thermals and daily power draw

An IP68 rating protects the glass-and-aluminium body against dust and immersion up to 1.5 m for 30 minutes. The 4800 mAh battery powers the 120 Hz panel and 5G modem through typical mixed use without requiring a midday recharge. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and Gorilla Glass on the back resist scratches during normal handling.

Sustained load behaviour on camera and gaming

The 108 MP main camera records 8K video and captures high-resolution stills during extended shooting sessions. Under continuous heavy workloads such as prolonged gaming or 5G hotspot use, the Snapdragon 888 manages thermal output through its integrated throttling algorithms to maintain stability. The 120 Hz display and 5G connectivity remain active while the chipset balances performance and surface temperature.

Questions about this item

How do I activate the eSIM on the Snapdragon 888 model, and what step do people forget?

Go to Settings, Connections, SIM card manager, then Add mobile plan; the step most people skip is restarting the phone after the QR code scan so the profile registers on the network.

Which component will need replacement first on the 4800 mAh unit, and how is it serviced?

The sealed 4800 mAh battery is the first part to wear out; replacement requires a professional teardown because the glass back is glued to the IP68 frame.

What limit appears first during extended 120 Hz gaming on the 6.7 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X?

Thermal throttling on the Snapdragon 888 kicks in first, lowering sustained clock speeds to keep the aluminum frame below its safety threshold.
