SKU CH-NVCQ-KYTSR MPN MZ-ILT7T6A

High-capacity internal SSD stores 7.68 TB over a 12 Gbps SAS link in a 2.5 in form factor

  • 68 TB capacity supports large enterprise datasets
  • SAS 12 Gbps interface enables fast data throughput
  • 5 inch form factor fits standard drive bays
  • PM1643 model designed for read-intensive workloads
  • EMC part 118000634 ensures compatibility with qualified systems

Enterprise SSD for Servers

This Samsung PM1643 drive delivers 7.68 TB of flash storage in a 2.5 in form factor. It uses a SAS interface running at 12 Gbps for connection to compatible controllers. The unit is built for internal server deployment and carries EMC part number 118000634.

Suited for Enterprise Arrays

The drive fits storage arrays and servers that accept 2.5 in SAS SSDs with enterprise firmware. It is not for home PC builders or laptop upgrades because the SAS interface and enterprise firmware are incompatible with standard consumer controllers. Buyers needing a different interface or form factor should look at other parts.

SAS 12 Gbps Interface

The single specification that decides fit is the SAS 12 Gbps interface. Your backplane and controller must support this exact signalling rate and protocol. Without a matching SAS 12 Gbps connection the drive will not function in the target system.

Questions about this item

What does 7.68 TB of capacity mean for a server workload?

It provides 7.68 TB of usable space for databases, virtual machines or archival storage in a single 2.5 in drive.

What does the SAS 12Gbps interface cap in practice?

The SAS link runs at 12 Gbps, so sustained throughput is limited by that bus speed and the PM1643 controller.

What does the 2.5 in form factor need to fit in a chassis?

It fits a standard 2.5 in drive bay with SAS power and data connectors; no adapter is required.
