Ready for Nintendo Switch 2

The Samsung P9 Express microSD Express card delivers 512 GB of storage for the Nintendo Switch 2. It uses a PCIe Gen3.0x1 interface with NVMe 1.3 to reach sequential reads up to 800 MB/s. The card carries U3, V30 and A1 speed ratings for sustained capture and app performance.

Simple slot insertion

Installation is a matter of sliding the card into any microSDXC slot until it clicks. The main issue arises when the host device only supports the older UHS-I bus; the card will still work but falls back to that slower interface. No drivers or formatting steps are required beyond the device's own prompt.

Limited by host bus

The card implements the SD 7.1 specification, yet its practical throughput depends entirely on the host controller. In a UHS-I-only slot the NVMe protocol cannot operate at its design speed. Buyers whose devices lack PCIe support over the SD interface will not see the advertised transfer rates.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the 800 MB/s read speed after installing the card?

Run a benchmark tool that supports the PCIe Gen3.0x1 NVMe 1.3 interface and compare the sequential read result to the rated 800 MB/s figure.

What comes in the box and do I need a separate reader for the microSD Express interface?

The package contains the 512GB microSDXC card only; a reader or device with a microSDXC slot supporting SD 7.1 is required separately.

Should I choose the 512GB version or is another capacity available for the P9 Express line?

Only the 512GB capacity is listed for this P9 Express model.
