Portable NVMe SSD with up to 2000 MB/s speeds, IP55-rated forged aluminium chassis, two-metre drop protection and 256-bit AES hardware encryption
The SanDisk Extreme PRO 4TB portable SSD uses NVMe technology to reach sequential read and write speeds up to 2000MB/s over a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connection. It is built for photographers, videographers and professionals who move large project files between laptops, desktops, tablets and smartphones. Hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption protects sensitive content without software overhead.
A forged aluminum body acts as a heatsink so the drive maintains higher speeds during long transfers instead of throttling after a short burst. The metal shell combines with a silicone sleeve to meet IP55 water and dust resistance and survive drops up to two metres, while a carabiner loop secures the drive during travel.
The USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface caps real-world throughput at the rated 2000MB/s, so host ports limited to USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB 3.0 will run slower. Buyers whose devices only offer USB 3.2 Gen 1 or earlier will not reach the advertised performance. The drive requires a USB-C port capable of 20Gbps to deliver its full speed.

The forged aluminum chassis acts as a heatsink to sustain performance, and with no moving parts the drive runs silently.
A USB-C port supporting USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and the supplied USB-C cable are required for the rated throughput.
Yes, it is backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, though speeds will drop to the older interface limits.
