Portable storage for creators

The SanDisk G-DRIVE ArmorATD is a 1 TB external hard drive built for photographers and videographers who need rugged transport of large media libraries. Its 2.5" form factor fits in a gear bag while the Space Gray aluminium enclosure resists water, dust, drops and up to 1000 lb of crush force. Maximum read transfer rate reaches 130 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C.

USB-C connectivity with legacy fallback

A single USB-C cable powers the drive and carries data to any modern laptop or desktop without an external adapter. The box also includes a USB-C to USB-A cable so the drive works with older ports on the same host interface. No separate power supply is required, freeing a wall outlet on location shoots.

Upgrade from fragile bus-powered drives

This model replaces portable drives that lack an IP54 rating or verified shock resistance, protecting footage when a bag is knocked over. The jump is worth it for field workflows where a failed drive means lost work, while users who only archive at a desk may not need the extra armour.

Questions about this item

How long can the 130 MB/s read rate hold up when I copy large files all day?

The 130 MB/s figure is the maximum read transfer rate; sustained throughput will vary with file size, system load and thermal conditions during extended use.

Does the drive get loud or hot when it runs continuously?

The enclosure has no fan; it relies on passive cooling, so noise stays at mechanical drive level and surface temperature rises with workload but stays within normal operating limits.

My laptop only has USB-A ports — what do I need to connect this drive?

The box includes a USB-C to USB-A cable so you can plug the Type-C drive directly into a standard USB-A port without buying an adapter.
