Portable NVMe SSD for mobile professionals

The SanDisk WDBAGF0010BRD-WESN is a 1 TB external solid-state drive built for creators and workers who move large project files between locations. Its USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C interface delivers read speeds up to 1050 MB/s and write speeds up to 1000 MB/s. Password-enabled 256-bit AES hardware encryption protects sensitive data on the go.

1 TB capacity with NVMe speed headroom

The terabyte of NVMe storage comfortably holds raw photo libraries, 4K video rushes and bulky design assets while leaving room for daily increments. Sequential transfers saturate the USB 3.2 Gen2 link at the rated limits, so very large single files move quickly. Sustained workloads involving many small random writes will run into the interface ceiling before the drive itself.

Pocket-sized drive with cross-generation cables

The red metal enclosure measures 2.17 by 3.94 by 0.35 inches and weighs 0.10 lb, sliding into a jacket pocket or laptop sleeve. A USB Type-C to Type-C cable and a Type-C to Type-A adapter are included, letting the drive connect to modern and legacy ports without extra purchases. WD Discovery software handles automated backup and encryption setup on Windows 10, Windows 8.1, macOS Catalina, Mojave or High Sierra; other operating systems may require reformatting. Drop resistance is rated to 6.5 ft (1.98 m).

Questions about this item

Will this 1050 MB/s drive slow down when I connect it to my older laptop that only has USB 3.0 ports?

The included USB Type-C to Type-A adapter lets you use the drive on USB 3.0 ports, but speeds will drop to that port's lower limit rather than the drive's 1050 MB/s maximum.

How can I confirm the 256-bit AES encryption is active after I set a password?

Open the WD Discovery software, select the drive and check the security tab — it will show "Encryption Enabled" once a password is set and the hardware lock is engaged.

Does the box include a USB-C to USB-C cable that supports the 1050 MB/s speed, or do I need to buy one separately?

A USB Type-C to Type-C cable rated for USB 3.2 Gen 2 is included, plus a USB Type-C to Type-A adapter for older ports.
