Pocket AM/FM Radio with Digital Tuning

The Sangean DT180BLK is a pocket-sized AM/FM radio with a PLL-synthesised digital tuning system. It fits in a shirt pocket and runs on a single AAA battery. The set includes stereo earbuds so you can listen privately straight from the box. A lock switch prevents accidental button presses while carried.

Tuning Limits and Preset Storage

The tuner covers 520 kHz to 1710 kHz on AM and 87.50 MHz to 108 MHz on FM plus VHF weather channels. You can store 15 direct-recall presets split as 10 FM, 5 AM and 5 VHF. The Auto Tuning System seeks active stations automatically and stops on each one found. A 90-minute auto shutoff conserves the battery if you fall asleep listening.

Deep Bass Boost for Small Speakers

The Deep Bass Boost system enhances low-frequency response from the tiny internal speaker or earbuds. A stereo/mono switch lets you reduce hiss on weak FM signals. Battery power and tuning indicators on the LCD display confirm reception and remaining runtime. This radio is not for listeners who want Bluetooth streaming or rechargeable built-in cells.

Questions about this item

Which preset layout should I pick — 10 FM and 5 AM or the 15 direct-recall total?

The radio stores 10 FM and 5 AM stations for 15 direct-recall presets in one fixed layout; there is no alternative version to choose.

What does the 108 MHz FM ceiling mean when I am tuning in a city?

108 MHz is the top of the standard FM band, so the tuner will receive every local FM station up to that frequency.

How does the PLL-synthesized digital tuning affect day-to-day use?

PLL synthesis locks the receiver to exact frequencies, giving drift-free reception and enabling the auto-search function to find stations quickly.
