What this device is

The Sangean WFR-39 is a portable digital radio that combines FM-RBDS reception with internet radio streaming over Wi-Fi. It supports Spotify Connect and multiple cloud music services including Deezer, TIDAL, and Qobuz, all controllable via the AirMusic mobile app. It suits listeners who want both broadcast and streaming audio in a single battery-powered unit.

Build and daily connections

A built-in 2600 mAh lithium-ion battery provides rechargeable operation away from mains power. The unit charges through a USB Type-C port accepting 5V at 2.4A input. An adjustable display dimmer and customizable menu allow quick access to 250 internet radio presets and 99 FM presets, while weather information is available on the front panel.

The spec that decides fit

Internet radio capability with 250 station presets and Spotify Connect integration determines whether this matches your listening habits. If you rely solely on traditional FM or DAB broadcasts without network streaming, the Wi-Fi features and app control will go unused. Buyers who need a non-networked analogue tuner or a fixed mains-only tabletop radio should look elsewhere.
