Glass-cloth electrical tape with thermosetting rubber adhesive, 7.0 mil thick, rated to 600 V and 265 °F
Scotch 27 is a glass-cloth electrical tape with a thermosetting rubber adhesive designed for electrical insulation up to 600 volts. The 7.0 mil thick backing provides mechanical strength rated at 150 lb-in tensile strength for demanding splice protection.
This roll suits professionals who require reliable adhesion at continuous operating temperatures up to 265 °F. It is not intended for applications requiring UV resistance or for low-voltage signal cables needing a thinner, more flexible vinyl wrap.
The tape meets ASTM D1000 standards with UL Listing and CSA certification, confirming its dielectric and mechanical ratings for 600 V systems. The 66 ft length supplies enough material for multiple large-diameter cable splices or motor lead connections.

The roll measures 3/4 in wide and 66 ft long, giving a continuous length for wrapping splices and harnesses.
Stretch the tape as you wrap so the rubber adhesive activates; the common mistake is laying it flat without tension, which reduces bond strength.
Replace any section that shows discoloration, cracking or loss of adhesion after prolonged exposure near the 265 Degrees F limit or after high-voltage stress.
