Stronger hold for everyday tasks

Scotch 4198 Super Hold Tape delivers 50% more adhesive and a thicker backing than standard Cat. 157 transparent tape. The 3/4 inch by 650 inch rolls come in a refillable dispenser, making them ready for sealing, wrapping, mending and labelling at home, in the office or at school. The moisture-resistant, solvent-free adhesive is nontoxic and photo-safe per ISO 18916.

Limits of a single-sided film tape

The glossy transparent finish blends on shiny surfaces and adheres to plastic, metal and cardboard, but it is not a double-sided or wall-safe formulation. Write-on capability works with permanent markers only. The tape is sold as a four-roll pack with one dispenser; additional dispensers are not included.

Upgrade from standard transparent tape

Users moving up from regular Cat. 157 tape gain a stronger bond for heavier paper, thicker gift wrap and lightweight packages. The jump is worth it when standard tape fails to hold or when a moisture-resistant, photo-safe seal is required for documents and prints.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the single dispenser pack and other quantities of the 3/4 in x 650 in Super Hold tape?

The 4198 pack includes four rolls and a refillable dispenser in one unit, so you get immediate dispensing and spare rolls without buying separate refills.

What does the claim of 50% more adhesive mean when I actually use the tape on plastic or cardboard?

It indicates a thicker adhesive layer and backing than standard Cat. 157 tape, giving a stronger bond that holds firmly on tough materials such as plastic, metal and cardboard.

How does the ISO 18916 photo-safe rating affect using this tape on glossy prints?

The rating confirms the adhesive is safe for high-gloss photographs and art prints, so you can mend or mount them without risk of damage over time.
