Scotch 897 Filament Strapping Tape

Scotch 897 is a clear, fiberglass-reinforced strapping tape designed for medium-duty bundling, reinforcing and pallet unitizing tasks. Its synthetic rubber adhesive bonds to plastics, fiberboard, carpet, natural fibers and metals with minimal rub-down, making it suited for warehouse, shipping and light industrial use.

Capacity and headroom

The roll provides 60 yards of 5-mil tape on a 3-inch core, delivering high tensile and shear strength for medium loads such as bundled cartons, reinforced boxes and light pallet straps. It is not intended for heavy-duty industrial strapping or continuous outdoor exposure where higher-grade filament tapes are required.

Thermals noise and power draw

The polypropylene backing with glass yarn reinforcement resists abrasion and moisture, maintaining adhesion in humid or outdoor conditions without degradation. Clear construction allows printed labels and illustrations to remain visible through the tape. UL recognized under file MH26206 to standard 969.

Questions about this item

Will the 1/2 in. x 60 yds. roll fit on my existing 3 inch core dispenser?

Yes, the roll is wound on a 3 inch diameter core, so it fits standard dispensers that accept that core size.

How can I verify the tape meets the UL 969 standard after I open it?

The tape carries UL recognized file MH26206, which is printed on the packaging and confirms compliance with the UL 969 standard.

Does the box include a dispenser or only the tape roll?

The product is the filament strapping tape roll itself; a dispenser is not included and must be purchased separately if needed.
