Seagate

Seagate Constellation ES 1TB 7200RPM SAS 6Gb/s 16MB Cache 3.5-inch internal hard drive

SKU CH-RVAX-F1HMT

1 TB 3.5-inch desktop drive with 7200 RPM SAS interface and 16 MB cache

  • 1 TB capacity for large-scale storage
  • 7200 RPM spindle speed for responsive data access
  • SAS 6 Gb/s interface for reliable enterprise connectivity
  • 16 MB cache to smooth burst workloads

Enterprise capacity and interface

The Seagate Constellation ES provides 1TB of storage on a SAS 6Gb/s interface. It is built for servers and storage arrays that require consistent data throughput. The 7200RPM spindle speed and 16MB cache support mixed read and write workloads. This drive suits IT administrators deploying nearline storage tiers.

Sustained workload behaviour

The SAS interface maintains stable transfer rates during extended operations without the variability seen in burst-only benchmarks. Rotational vibration safeguards help preserve performance in multi-drive chassis under continuous load. The 7200RPM motor delivers steady throughput for sequential archives and random database access alike. Workloads that exceed the cache capacity rely on sustained media rates rather than short bursts.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the 7200RPM SAS drive produce when running continuously?

The 7200RPM spindle and SAS 6Gb/s interface are designed for enterprise duty cycles, so the drive is built to handle sustained operation with managed thermal output and acoustic levels typical of nearline storage.

What controller or backplane is required to connect this 3.5-inch SAS drive?

You need a SAS 6Gb/s host bus adapter, RAID controller, or backplane with a standard SAS data and power connector to operate this 1TB drive.
