8 TB desktop external drive

The Seagate One Touch STNB8000400 provides 8 TB of storage in a desktop form factor with a USB Type-C interface. It draws power from the host port so no separate wall adapter is needed. The drive ships with a 1.64-foot USB-C cable and Toolkit software for automated backups.

Suits users wanting one high-capacity volume

This drive suits anyone who wants a single large volume for backups, media libraries or project archives without managing multiple smaller drives. It is not for buyers who need a ruggedised portable drive, a hardware-encrypted device or a RAID enclosure with redundancy.

Check USB-C port power and OS setup

Verify that your USB-C port can supply at least 15 W for reliable operation. The drive works with most Windows and macOS systems but requires reformatting before it can be used with Time Machine. Ensure you have space for a unit measuring 7.354 x 1.587 x 5.185 inches.

Questions about this item

Does my computer need a USB-C port that can supply at least 15 W to run this drive?

Yes, the USB-C port must provide 15 W or more for the drive to operate without an external adapter.

Will the included 1.64-foot USB-C cable work with a USB-A port if I use an adapter?

The cable is USB-C on both ends; an adapter may work but the host port still needs to deliver 15 W for reliable operation.

After connecting the drive, how can I confirm it is recognised and ready for backups?

The drive should appear in File Explorer on Windows or Finder on macOS, and the included Toolkit software can run a backup test to verify operation.
