Capacity and interface

This 1 TB 2.5 inch laptop drive uses a SATA 3.0Gb/s interface and spins at 5400 RPM with 8 MB cache. It fits the standard 9.5 mm drive bay found in most notebooks and external enclosures.

Build fit and requirements

The drive needs a free SATA data and power connection inside a 2.5 inch bay. Its 9.5 mm height, 69.75 mm width and 100.30 mm length match the common laptop form factor, leaving the M.2 slot free for a faster boot drive.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

It suits buyers adding bulk storage for documents, media or backups to an older laptop or a budget build. Builders who want an operating-system drive with lower latency or higher sequential throughput should look at solid-state options.

Does the 5400 RPM spindle speed limit sustained transfer rates?

The 5400 RPM rotation and SATA 3.0Gb/s interface set the maximum sustained throughput for this 1TB drive.

How much noise and heat does the 2.5 inch mechanism produce during all-day operation?

SilentSeek and NoiseGuard features reduce acoustic output while the 5400 RPM motor keeps heat modest for continuous laptop use.

What laptop drive bay dimensions and interface are required to install this 9.5mm high SATA drive?

A standard 2.5 inch bay accepting 9.5mm height, 69.75mm width and 100.30mm length with a SATA 3.0Gb/s connector is needed.
